About Laura

My name is Laura Stewart
and I work in publications for a large nonprofit organization, under a viaduct in Denver. In our parking lot, random debris crashes down from the highway, homeless men set fire to other homeless men’s stuff, and Dog the Bounty Hunter stalks his fugitive prey. I have loved the opportunity to meet interesting people and hear them tell their stories.
Quite soon, I will leave Denver for Kampala, Uganda to work as a Communications Fellow with International Justice Mission, a human rights agency based in Washington D.C. International Justice Mission secures justice for victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression. As a Communications Fellow, I hope to learn more about honoring people through language and story. I want to use words to bring rescue to those who are crushed, beset and persecuted.
I look forward to chronicling my adventures and reaching out via this blog. Please reach out back. You can leave comments on this blog or email me at laura (dot) alison (dot) stewart (at) gmail (dot) com.

I’ll be praying for you from Mexico!
May God bless you as you raise your funds and embark on this wonderful journey. Keep in touch with me, sis.

From the time you could hold a pencil you have been writing stories about people and for people. I remember that some of Julia’s readers were written by her older sister! It seems you were meant to do just what you are. Here you are, where you ought to be.
love,
mum xo
Laura, you are magnificent! I love you!
Laura, I L.O.V.E. your blog! You are such a blessing to IM Uganda! And to me! Can’t wait to live out our African adventure with you soon! Blessings over you. xx
You’re such a gifted writer! Thanks for sharing your writings with the world! And I love your pics. They’re so much fun!
Dearest Laura…
Here I am catching up on pictures and you after your phone call to Grandma this morning, and our chat…
I am inspired by our talk, and the excitement you have for the work you are doing…It is close to my heart for women. I am in a women’s support group on our poetry web site, and I know they will be thrilled at what you are doing.
Be open to the ideas I gave you about featuring your story. I am so proud of you. You will expand our vision of what all of us can do for other nations even if in a small way….I will keep in touch, and be praying for you..Much love aunt Rosemary
I’m enjoying your writing so much. Also, you made me cry a little. So much emotion in these posts!
